This is How I Fight!

The Old Testament is full of great faith building stories of how God’s people overcame and failed. 1 Corinthians 10:11 says,

Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

God gave us a record of these events as examples for us today. We can learn from them and in turn build our faith so we too can do great exploits.

One such record is found in 2nd Chronicles 20 about the King Jehoshaphat and how he fought against the enemy. Verse one says, “the Moabites and Ammonites with some of the Meunites came to wage war against Jehoshaphat.”

Three armies and Jehoshaphat calls all the people to fast and pray so they could get the mind of God on how to fight. We can learn from Jehoshaphat that when we are faced with a battle, inquire of the Lord through prayer and fasting. God gave him an answer.

Verse 21 of chapter 20 says, “When he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the Lord and those who praised Him in their holy (priestly) attire, as they went out before the army and said, “Praise and give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy and lovingkindness endure forever.”

Jehoshaphat and God’s people were victorious that day. The didn’t fight how a normal army would fight but they waged war how God designed them to fight and they won!

Praise and worship are weapons in the believers life. When we fill our mouths with praise and worship we can and will be victorious, especially over the war of our mind.

It is a known fact that satan attacks the minds and if he can get us thinking wrong he can get us to act on it. I want to give you some scriptures that can and will help us in our battle of the mind.

Psalms 22:3 says, “3Yet You are holy, You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel (church).” God inhabits our praises in other words He lives in our praises and therefore is with us as we battle.

Praise and worship requires us to use our mouths we can’t think praise and worship we have to open our mouths. When the enemy bombards you with worry, unclean thoughts etc. begin to praise God and it hushes the enemy.

Psalms 100:4 says, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!”

Another thing that takes place when we worship and praise it take the spotlight off us, the devil and our thinking and puts it on God. When you are troubled or entertaining bad thoughts your mind is on you or something other than God. Praise puts the light on God and brings peace and deliverance from the thoughts of the devil.

In conclusion I want to encourage you take time to praise and worship God. When the enemy attacks lift up your praise and see God work on your behalf.
